July 1977 interview with Fisher, Ford and Hamill

The Mike Douglas Show was, apparently, an afternoon chat show on US television in the 1970s. On 20 July 1977 Mike's guest were the stars of the blockbuster new film, Star Wars: Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill. (Also appearing as Douglas's co-host for the week, "John-Boy" Richard Thomas.) 

It's remarkable how much more willing Harrison Ford was to talk to the media in 1977 than he later became. Also remarkable are Mark Hamill's trousers.

1983 interview with Lawrence Kasdan and others

Giant Freaking Robot calls our attention to this low-quality clip from the Today Show in which Lawrence Kasdan and others are interviewed about the coming release of Return of the Jedi. The whole clip is interesting, but the final line is especially intriguing. After Harrison Ford explains, in his typically grumpy way, that he's glad to see the last of Star Wars, reporter Jim Brown says, "Still, in the future, machines may have the last word".

Did Mr Brown have premonition about the making of the prequels?
