Star Wars Detours: I've got a bad feeling about this
Here's the first clip released from the latest Lucasfilm animated project, Star Wars Detours. From the YouTube blurb:
Star Wars Detours™ is an animated comedy that explores what daily life is like in a galaxy far, far away. There are no Empires striking back or attacking clones here. Instead, Star Wars Detours focuses on the universe's regular folks and their everyday problems... which, to be fair, do frequently involve famous bounty hunters, crazed Ewoks, and even a Dark Lord of the Sith.
Welcome to Star Wars: Detours: the other side of the stars, between the wars.
Ugh. I suppose I should reserve judgment but this really does nothing for me. Here are a few YouTube comments that struck home with me:
the fuck is this?
more enjoyable than all 3 prequels combined
To be fair, there are lots of positive comments, too. And maybe you can't judge a show by its YouTube trailer (although you would expect the trailer to include all the best parts of the show...). It will probably be just fine, or better, as a show if you can accept the premise, i.e. that Star Wars is or should be a big joke.
Maybe I'm just too old for this sort of thing. I find myself saying that a lot on this blog...

Looks like the only creative ideas that can come from skywalker ranch anymore is making fun of the good stuff they once did. It's really shameful.
